5.7.1 Maori Experiential Network - Project DetailsDescription: On the Tipu Ake / Kaitiakitanga Retreat 19-21 Mar 2004, participants decided to form a network to link whanau and iwi groups in different parts of the country that could provide unique Maori learning, ecotourism and sustainability experiences. The aim was not to attract conventional tourism traffic, but instead specific people from all parts of the world that want to experience local life and learn much more about the Maori world view, culture, wisdom, nature and their deep relationship with the earth and all life it supports. 1. The Te Hikutu people of the Hokianga Harbour in Northland.
2. The Ngati Whare people of Te Whaiti Nui-a-Toi and the Whirinaki Forest
3. The Waitaha people of the South Island
