3.3.4 International Leadership Network - Tipu Ake Project Details:

Description:

This is about sharing our Tipu Ake ki te Ora leadership model with the world purely by networking and word of mouth.

The main areas of application at present are education, leadership, community development, government, organisational transformation, corporate visioning and values, project management, sustainability and indigenous peoples

  • This is being done extensively via the web and many sites around the world now link to it.
  • At an academic level we have provided documents and tapes to the libraries in all major Universities and Polytechnics, as well as to many universties in North america and Europe.
  • We have presented papers at a number of local and international conferences.
  • People from around the world are begining to attend our marae retreats
  • We have enthusiastic supporters in the international media and other consultants that promote it locally
  • Tipu Ake workshops are regularly run for interested NZ organisations and groups.
  • Project Management workshops at AUT and elsewhere include it as a new tool.
  • We are linking with any other NZ and International organisations operating in related areas.

Scheduled presentations:

The Project Management Institute Global Forum, Anaheim, Los Angeles 23-26 Oct 2004 (see project details)

Outcomes expected:

  • Organisations that apply it will become more agile, proactive and long term outcome focused.
  • Many will see it as a tool that can help us leave a better environment for our grandchildrens
  • People will begin to question some of the conventions and values that govern organisational behaviour
  • The people of Te Whaiti and Maori people in general will be recognised for their special wisdom
  • Indigenous people will be recognisd for the unique strengths and wisdom they bring to the knowledge economy
  • New Zealand will be seen to be making an important contribution in the area of community and business leadership.
  • Te Whaiti Nui-aToi will be seen as an international role model for sustainable development in the knowledge economy
  • Income will return to the Whirinaki to sponsor new activities and scholarships for our children.
  • University project teams will benefit from participating in project work
  • Everyone involved in our network will benefit from the sharing and learning process.
  • The world will see that big global things can start in small places with lots of enthuiasm, even without money.
